Trust
issues.
Spyral and
Dick Grayson are back as a new status quo is enforced and new challenges await.
Tom King and
Tim Seeley show a good eye for foresight as they bring in multiple elements
from previous issues and tie up with this one – continuing the secret and
betrayal theme of this entire run.
SPOILERS
FOLLOW……………..
We first see
Dick in distress and he fumbles his lines while contacting Bruce, even letting
the real names slip in between as he mentions that his mission is over and
whether he can come back to Gotham.
Going back
to the timeline of the first issue, we see the rival agent Dick knocked out get
killed with an escrima stick by a shadowy figure, wearing exactly the same
get-up.
In the
present, Helena has assumed control of Spyral after ‘killing’ Mr Minos and her
first problem is that someone has been killing rival agents (all who have been
involved in Dick Grayson related missions) with an escrima stick.
So, before a
spy war starts, Spyral has to make amends.
Meanwhile,
Agent 37 (Grayson) and Agent One are planning a diamond heist with Dick
blending in with the crowd. Instead of following orders, he seduces the target
and dances with her – lifting the necklace in the process.
Helena
contacts him during his escape alongside Agent One and confides that she
suspects Agent One has been framing him. In disgust, Dick knocks him out and
leaves.
We then see
someone approaching the knocked out Agent One with two escrima sticks, only to
be killed by someone else with a similar device. Agent One wakes up in the
company of a dead body and multiple guns on him.
SPOILERS END…………..
Someone is
framing Dick Grayson and for reasons unknown. After last issue, things were
largely open-ended as one arc ended but it seem King and Seeley have a long
game in mind judging from this issue.
This isn’t
Mikel Janin’s strongest outing but it’s still solid and does a great job
helping the plot along.
So, I give
it 8.0 out of 10.
+The spy
games continue
+Some nice
continuity and foresight
+Solid
artwork
-Weird jump in
storyline from the last issue
-No proper
