Green Lantern/ Red Lanterns #28 Review

Wrong person to pick a fight with........

This issue is a 48-page strong flip-book which covers the first two parts of Red Daughter of Krypton with
both Green Lantern #28 and Red Lanterns #28 included.

Surprisingly though, very little happens in these many pages.

SPOILERS FOLLOW........

In Space Sector 3014, Green Lanterns Barreer and Lok encounter a rage ring wielding Supergirl. They're somehow able to subdue her but not before witnessing her heat vision.

As they take her to Mogo, Hal is there making the convicts take a pledge that they won't back-stab anyone. All this is halted once Supergirl makes land.

After hearing that she has heat vision, Hal does a check with his ring, confirming that she is Kryptonian. Now, I haven't read Supergirl much but isn't she 'known' now? How many years has Hal been
off Earth?

He goes off to find Saint Walker, who still refuses to wear his blue ring. When Hal broaches the topic of 'curing' the girl, Walker declines.

Deciding this is Guy's responsibility, they take her to Ysmalt, which is apparently now in sector 2814!

On the Red Lantern side of things, Guy and Tora arrive at the scene where Shadow Thief and Zox and
Skallox are fighting. Zox has lost his spherical shape and is understandably unhappy.

Even though Guy, despite being cut twice, is able to stop her without any 'punches' (they make her solid
and then Tora freezes her), Tora refuses to resume their relationship.

Angry, Guy leaves Earth and a little latter, receives word that someone is trespassing on Oa.

Finding Hal there, he is furious and prepares to fight it out but before that, he sees a new Red Lantern in Hal's custody Supergirl.First, he thinks the search for Ratchet's ring is over but when the match comes up as negative, Zox tells Guy that before he came, Atrocitus sent 9 rings out to find new recruits.

As conversations turn heated, Supergirl frees herself and it takes the combined strength of all the Lanterns (Zox gets his figure back!) to push her into the lake.

Elsewhere, Rankorr and Bleez are at the mercy of Atrocitus and his new soldier but Rankorr is able to divert Atrocitus's attention while Bleez escapes for help.

When she comes out, they learn that she is Kara Zor-El, which reminds them of Superman's Kryptonian name. Hal guesses she is family and Guy lets out a groan, already fearing meeting big brother Supes.

SPOILERS END........

Vendetti and Soule combines to introduce a new member to the corps but I felt it could have been done in a single Red Lantern book only. There was no need to put pause in the Durlan War going on in the Green Lantern books.

The artwork as usual is great for both issues, though the change from Tan to Vitti is a little rough.

Very little though happens and 48 pages felt like too much filler. Though I'm really looking forward to Red Lanterns #29 now.

So, I give it 7.0 out of 10
+Some good character beats for Guy
+The respective artwork is very good
+Good introduction to the new Lantern

-Art change is rough
-Too much filler
