Green Lantern New Guardians #24 Review

Green Lantern Mythology is taken to newer heights as the Entities return.
I just can't believe how wonderfully Vendetti and his team is crafting this story.


Justin doesn't get much scope for character and plot but every little thing that happens is so brilliant it makes me stand back to admire it's awesomeness.

Johns may have left but this is the first time I've felt all four books seem to be in sync and not just stories that portray the title protagonist while the others are conveniently ignored.

Kyle is given the spotlight here but the progression feels natural instead of forced as it did in War of the Green Lantern or secluded as in Rise of Third Army and Wrath of the First Lantern.

Oa is gone.The Battery is lost.

And Hal is still acting like a petulant child.

I want to get this off my chest as this is the single complaint I have with Vendetti's run. In trying to give John and the others greater character development, Hal has been short-shifted.

Still, I can't complain much when everything else is so awesome.

The Entities are back. Merging with Kyle, they chart another notch in Green Lantern Mythology. I've read Green Lantern extensively and this is the first time I've seen one host carry multiple entities (Krona doesn't count).

The visuals are brilliant and Brad's pencils combined with the inkers give it justice.

The story keeps reminding us that there are no villains or heroes here. Everyone is misguided and desperate - from Hal to Relic to the Entities.

And Hal and his team being teleported to Ysmault didn't feel cliched. The only other Earth Lantern is there and the Red may be very crucial in the current war.

Kyle is finally able to overcome the entities and seems to have learnt something. He's now all for Relic, which given the facts unfolded to us isn't such a bad idea (yes, that's where we are now. Rooting for the 'enemy').

The writing, when not involving Hal speaking, is very good and the writer does a very good job of enhancing the GL universe.

This may be the first cross-over since Sinestro Corps War that all the stories flow fluently without feeling forced or secluded.

The art also is brilliantly done and Brad evokes a lot of Manke in his pencils.

So, I give it 8.5 out of 10.
