Ultraman meets up with his pal and the results aren't good.
It seems Justice League is going to feature the members of the Crime Syndicate, as indicated by the sinister facsimile of Justice League #1 on the cover.
Giving Ultraman a terrifying back-story with all the familiar beats of his good counterpart, we see him in all his glory.
The art is still great and the story moves at a good pace. There is plenty of action, especially towards the end. The character beats are few, but they are poignant.
And we also get more tidbits of the Earth 3 team and what happened on their Earth.
Must read for anyone following Forever Evil and wanting to know more about Ultraman.

What an origin!
Ultraman belongs to the house of IL(get it?). When their planet was exploding, Krypton was ready to evacuate. But Jor-Il and his wife killed everyone to ensure only their son survived.
And in a sinister take on the sequence in the first Reeve Superman film.He is indoctrinated in dictatorship (merged with the rebukes of his father. Man, Jor-Il was bad!) and the uberhuman concept. His earth parents are a wife-beater and his shrew, whom he kills.
Along the way, we see a terrified Abin Sur giving the ring to Hal and Superwoman is still Earth 3 Lois Lane. Also, the Firestorm is Professor Stein.
We do a good moment when Grid ascertains his need for evolution and interaction. He (It?) feels like someone who is being misled.
On his way to Kandaq, he makes a brief stop at the Planet. We get a good moment when Jimmy Olsen stands up for Superman and the others but is ridiculed by Ultraman for his stupid sacrifice.
As he is about to kill Lois and Jimmy, Black Adam barges in and takes him on.
An action packed sequence with some good character beats and a sinister origin, this is a fun book which contributes to the overall story.
So, I give it 9.0 out of 10
