Forever Evil: Rogues Rebellion #2 Review

Out of the frying pan, into.........a mouth?

After a recap of the events that took place in Forever Evil #3, we get a glimpse of the Rogues trying to survive in Metropolis.

There's some great dialogue and even in the recap, we get some glimpses into the Rogues' members, especially Trickster, that weren't present in Forever Evil.

There's some really good humor, which hasn't been all that present in Forever Evil.

SPOILERS FOLLOW.........................

For those not reading Forever Evil (why aren't you, it's really good), we meet up with the Rogues facing off against Deathstorm and Power Ring.

The badass Deathstorm moment is here as well, as he is able to change the fog into hydrogen droplets, nullifying Heatwave and somewhat Trickster. Then he removes Captain Cold's metahuman DNA and before the Rogues can get away, Power Ring shatters the mirror portal.

The Rogues land up in Metropolis and separated from Cold (who's movement you can follow in Forever Evil), with Mirror Master's powers malfunctioning.

There are some nice visual gags, as Mirror Master tries to save Heatwave, who's hanging from a window with Trickster weighing him down. An Weather Wizard is trapped on a weather antenna.

As they try to get in touch with their leader, the Rogues are first attacked by a Green Arrow wannabe named Archer (which was also the name of Oliver's Earth 3 Counterpart. But this guy isn't Earth 3) and then the deadly Parasite.

The encounter goes badly for them as Heatwave is depleted and Weather Wizard really messes things up by powering up Parasite even more.

They escape and land up in Gotham. Poison Ivy's lair.

Gulp!

SPOILERS END..........................

A character driven humour filled story which also furthers the plot, this is a very well written book.

One of the main problems is that the Rogues have no great moments in this book and we are constantly reminded they are B grade villains as they continue to be in retreat mode.

The artwork is passable but the story continues to be good.

So, I give it 8.0 out of 10.

+Good character moments
+Both dialogue and visual humour
+Plot progression

-Art is passable
-Rogues are B grade guys!
