Justice League Dark #25 Review

Evil is everywhere, John. Even inside you.

The story of John Constantine and his unusual team-mates taking on Evil itself continues to unfold in an interesting way.

With Forever Evil going on in the background, John and his team decides to take the fight to what they believe is the real enemy - the evil within every person.

With splendid artwork, this issue maintains its dark nature but also adds a little humour to the mix.

SPOILERS FOLLOW........................

John has been visited by the Nightmare Nurse, who intends to help him for reasons known only to herself. She has brought a plantlike creature she created from a cutting of Swamp Thing's body.

That goes awry when Swampy decides he doesn't want them misusing his body and arrives in the House of Mystery by taking birth inside the harvested creature.

Yeah, you heard that right.

As Swamp Thing attacks Constantine and the Nurse, the House stops him from killing them. Then, he agrees to help them as the Snydicate's actions have thrown the Green off balance as well.

They enact a spell that helps them enter the consciousness of all humanity but when they confront the manifestation of Evil called Blight, Nightmare Nurse and Swamp Thing are attacked, leaving Constantine to save them.

There is a slight problem for me with the reveal that Blight cannot change Constantine because he wears his evil on his sleeve. John is grey, not black.

Elsewhere, the Sea King is alive and well while Cassandra Craft, a psychic, is attacked and captured by demons.

Constantine decides that they need more fire power, so after a harrowing 12 hours, he is able to bring the Trinity of Sin to their place.

The War on Evil has begun.

SPOILERS END.........................

With interesting developments, this story has a lot of potential. With heroes who are more self-serving and grey natured than others, this journey is unpredictable.

The Visuals are still great (especially the first few page layouts) and DeMatteis gets the voices perfectly.

So, I give it 8.5 out of 10

+Characters are spot on
+The visuals are great
+The reveals are intriguing

-Constantine can't be hurt by evil? Huh.
