Flash #23.3 Rogues

Who said there's no honour among thieves?

I've been waiting for this issue since Villains Month was announced, and I have to say that they knocked the ball out of the park with this one.

While still staying true to the uniqueness of the Rogues, this one-shot was able to do multiple things in just 20 pages - it gave us a look into why we should root for the Rogues, a great character story for Captain Cold aka Len Snart, a prologue to Forever Evil: Rogues Rebellion...need I go on?

We catch up with the Rogues infiltrating Iron Heights to get the Trickster out (as seen in Forever Evil #1), and then flashback to the last attempted robbery by the Rogues. You get everything good about the Rogues here. They work as a team to loot a bank from a underground mine, not only to avoid the police, but also to ensure nobody gets hurt. Read the last part again. Yes, the villains don't want to hurt anyone.

And when there's a chance that the mine shaft may collapse, which would give them enough time to loot the bank and escape, but would certainly collapse the buildings on top of the mine, what do they choose? Yes, they stop and reinforce the cracks before leaving empty handed.

You have to love that.

There's a sub-story regarding the Glider and Mirror Master, which both strengthens the notion that these are good people driven by circumstance to evil acts.

But all though, one thing remains firm. The Rogues stick together like a family.

Hoping they beat the hell out of Grodd in the upcoming miniseries.

So, I give it 9.5 out of 10.
