Grid needs to feel.
Wow, back-to-back Justice League titles. First #25 and now #26 and both shed more light on what makes the Syndicate tick.
This time we went over the rest - Power Ring, Deathstorm and Johny Quick. But Superwoman seems to remain mysterious.
The art is absolutely fabulous and while I still like Finch's work, I can't believe Reis isn't doing the main event art.
SPOILERS FOLLOW.......................
It seems it was Grid who was giving the low-down to us about Ultraman and Owlman's background, searching for something that would make him feel something.
He sets his sight on Power Ring first. We see a twisted Hal Jordan doing a Norman Bates on Carol (only playing peeping tom, silly!) while she talks with an alive Deadman about nuking Nanda Parbat, and then being called by the ring (disintegrating the older Ferris, who had found him). Coming to a massively deformed Abin Sur, he is seduced into taking the ring, which are accompanied by tentacle arms from another universe (sounds a lot like a bad hentai, but it's not).
Next we see Johny Quick being transported to jail by Officer Leonard Snart (Our Earth's Captain Cold) before pre-Atomica Rhonda rescues him and kills the last of Snart's team (the Rogues) before they get a Bonnie-and-Clyde moment atop S.T.A.R labs. In a twist, Johny is hit by lightning while Rhonda is sent crashing through a window into the prison of a known hero (well, villain here) Ray Palmer (aka Atom) and receives the size changing powers.
Finally, we see Professor Stein and he merged with a dead Ronnie Raymond and became Deathstorm. All along, we get brief glimpses of the hooded man until his face forms a familiar outline when an unknown person tells him 'soon'.
Lex Luthor?
Grid finds Superwoman's files deleted while at S.T.A.R Labs, Victor regains consciousness.
PS: This is a spoiler for Forever Evil #4, but the cover is almost the same as the assumed start of Forever Evil #5!
SPOILERS END.........................
Finishing off the origins of the rest of the Snydicate (complete with the twisted versions of known events), while leaving both Superwoman and the hooded man a mystery, this was a well done supplement to Forever Evil (which Justice League is these days).
Johns and Reis make a great team and while Reis isn't that good at drawing the gritty atmosphere of Forever Evil, where he excels is the vibrant characters.
Can't wait for next month.
So, I give it 9.0 out of 10.
+Some great twisted origins
+More clues about the hooded prisoner
+Wonderful art
-Still a supplement to Forever Evil
