Forever Evil: A.R.G.U.S #1 Review

When the White House is under attack, Argus must respond!

I was actually looking forward to this series as Brett will be taking the reins of art duties at Batman Superman.

And then I saw the art. Coming back, I found that not one, but three pencillers had been employed on this book! Not one was Brett.

Apparently the art and writing duties shifted somewhere down the line.

The writing is a little hard to follow, especially with the bland art accompanying it.

But when you get into the plot, it's an enjoyable little read, if not exactly good.

We find Steve survived thanks to Zatanna teleporting him away before they faced the Crime Syndicate. He's been kept in a shelter camp after the destruction of ARGUS.

But before all that, we finally have the first meeting of Steve Trevor and Diana. A little hurried, but it serves to show us why he cares for her so much.

Apparently, after ARGUS was destroyed, a secret agency hacked their files and outed all their secret agents across America. Most of them are killed.

The hurried pace is apparent when the 'World is Ours' signal of the Crime Syndicate is seen and Steve sees Cheetah chewing on Diana's lasso.

An emergency call is received that Deathstroke and a gang are laying seige to the White House.

Steve gets another flashback of the time when ARGUS was first created in the wake of the Justice League's battle with Darkseid.

When Steve reaches the location, he is faced by Deathstroke and Copperhead. At the shelter camp, apperently Dr Light has been resurrected, and angry.

The pacing is a little off and the art a little bland, but this is an linear progression of how Steve and his troops deal with the siege on White House.

While an enjoyable read with a reveal at the end, there is nothing that makes you want to pick it up again.

If you love ARGUS and Steve (maybe if you're watching Agents of SHIELD), you may like this. If not, there's nothing here to interest you.

So, I give it 6.0 out of 10
