Major decisions are taken when Hal tries to get Guy and his team to help.
We pick up where we left off at the end of the last book of Red Lanterns and it continues to be leaps and bounds better since Guy stepped into the title.
It's an entertaining read with a few good moments for Guy and serve to further emphasize the grey area all the factions in this verse inhibit.
The art continues to excel except for some of the larger shots, especially the arrival of Hal's team. Soule continues Tomasi's work of making Guy more likable.
Bleez has caught Guy in the act - having seen his conversation with Hal about the extraction. Which isn't going so well given the Blue Lantern Corps is extinct and Mogo...........where is Mogo?
Relic's attacks have left Hal with a depleted power stock and he feels the Reds are the wild card. Their power comes from magic and science, and magic is something Relic doesn't understand. Well, according to Hal.
As we know, Guy's in a very deep mess. He's been a Red before and it killed him to get that ring off. Hal decided to send him as a spy to the Reds fully knowing this. So, while I still question how this arc is treating Hal, Guy really gave him what was coming.
Yes. One punch and Hal is down.
While the fact that the Reds have now been able to talk, this didn't help Milligan's run. But under Soule, we laugh at Vox and Scallox arguing over guns and ships.
And who didn't love Guy coming clean and leaving Bleez speechless?
This presents an interesting scenario. Hal wants Guy back but Guy's had enough. He makes a deal that suits both Corps. And that is the full patrol of an entire sector.
And if you've been following the solicits, you know which sector it is. So major gamechanger.
Now, my complaints. While the Reds were drawn in all their glory, the Greens were very badly handled. It seems the penciller knew this was just a cameo and drew them as fast as he could.
Another thing is that Arisia doesn't talk at all. Given her history with Guy, I felt she should have been part of the conversation.
Elsewhere, Atrocitus plans to use the Butcher to reclaim his corps goes haywire as the entity escapes and joins with Kyle. Atrocitus's story has been weak for a while and it doesn't get better.
I still like the cat though.
Kyle goes to the Source Wall (yes, that exists here as shown in Relic #1) which Relic is trying to destroy, apparently the light reservoir is beyond it.
And Kyle, with the New Guardians, decides to help him.
Red Lanterns is up and kicking. Soule continues his good work on the title and this is shaping up for some big things for Guy and the Reds.
The art is consistent with the slight problems when non-regulars on the title are drawn.
Still, this book does little on the Relic front but does a big reveal in the few pages it has. But for those who love Guy and the Reds, this was an enjoyable and memorable read.
